    The first ESKA championships were held in 1986 in Sunderland, England and have been held every year since.

    A very successful ESKA Championships 2017

    Karateka from all over Europe travelled to Matasinhos, Portugal for the 32ndEuropean Shotokan Karate-Do Association (ESKA) Championships.

    With 559 entries from 20 countries, this three-day Tournament lived up to all expectations with ‘world class’ competitors producing Karate performances of the highest technical standard.

    On Friday, the cadets fought for the titles, while the juniors and youths competed on the Saturday. The Senior categories took place on the Sunday with some of the most exciting performances taking place.

    In the medals table, Team Russia achieved a fantastic result with a total of 21 medals (9 Gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze). England were next with 5 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze, followed by Germany with 5 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

    After a very exciting weekend of Shotokan Karate, we are now looking forward to the next ESKA Championships which will be held in Nis, Serbia on 23, 24 & 25thNovember, 2018.
